“Enter a universe where more than one wears the mask,” declares the trailer for Sony Pictures’ upcoming animated Spider Man movie, which features not Peter Parker, but Black-Latino teenager Miles Morales as the superhero. The teaser-trailer was unveiled by producers Chrtisopher Miller and Phil Lord at the Brazil Comic-Con on December 9 and the movie is aiming for a Christmas 2018 release.
Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is the first Spider Man movie based on Morales’ character, who was introduced by Marvel Comics in 2011. Morales took the baton after Peter Parker’s death in the Ultimate Spider-Man, which was part of the Ultimate Comics series that imagined an alternate universe for Marvel characters. But in 2015, Morales became the official Spider Man of the Marvel Comics Universe.
An animated Spider-Man film was announced by Sony Pictures the same year and it was revealed this January that it would feature Morales, who has been voiced by Shameik Moore in the movie.

The movie has been directed Bo Persichetti, Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rothman, with a screenplay by Lord.
Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is not connected to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, where Tom Holland plays Peter Parker. The voice cast also includes Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali and Liev Schreiber.
