Manohar Malgonkar’s non-fiction book The Men Who Killed Gandhi (1978), about the Hindu right-wing conspiracy to kill Mahatma Gandhi in 1948, will be adapted as a web series by Rajesh Mapuskar. Malgonkar’s book chronicles the events that led to the partition of India and Gandhi’s assassination by Nathuram Godse and other members of the Hindu Mahasabha.

The series will be produced by Vikram Malhotra’s Abundantia Entertainment and co-produced by Mapuskar (Ventilator, Ferrari Ki Sawaari). “History fascinates me,” Mapuskar said in a press release. “I got immersed in this huge slice of history, Bapu, when I worked on Lage Raho Munnabhai. Twelve years after that, Vikram came to me with the proposal to make The Men Who Killed Gandhi. I didn’t hesitate and immediately said yes! I was getting the chance to work on a project about Bapu. And to investigate and understand the other side of things. I hope I can do justice to the project. I am very excited.”
