Golmaal Again has become this year’s highest grossing film in India, The Indian Express reported. Directed by Rohit Shetty and featuring Ajay Devgn, Parineeti Chopra, Tusshar Kapoor, Arshad Warsi and Tabu, among others, the comedy earned Rs. 30.14 crores in India on its opening day. In the two weeks since its release, the comedy has grossed more than Rs 179 crores at the domestic box office, reportedly the highest for a Bollywood film in 2017 so far.

The fourth installment in the Golmaal franchise was released a day after the Zaira Wasim-starrer Secret Superstar, produced by Aamir Khan. However, the competition at the box office doesn’t appear to have hampered the collections of Golmaal Again.

Reacting to the commercial success of the film, Shetty told DNA: “The business of the film reflects the number of people who have seen the film and loved it. A large segment of the audience watching the film is crucial for the product.”

At least two more A-list productions are scheduled for a release: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati on December 1, and Ali Abbas Zafar’s Tiger Zinda Hai on December 22.
