The trailer for Padmavati could have something in common with that of George Miller’s 2015 blockbuster Mad Max: Fury Road. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s reinterpretation of a fictitious past and Mad Max: Fury Road’s dystopian future may be nothing alike, but they blend seamlessly a mash-up that places visuals of Padmavati on the soundtrack of the trailer for Miller’s movie. A new clip advertises itself as “Padmavati Max: Khilji Road”, directed by “Mastermind George Leela Bhansali”.
The pardoy begins with Ranveer Singh’s Alauddin Khilji, featuring chomping on meat as the voice over describes him on cue as “a man reduced to a single instinct”. The grand pronouncements made in the Mad Max trailer befit the swaggering characters of Padmavati, and its spectacular music synchronizes perfectly with Bhansali’s sweeping visuals.
