Akshay Kumar will be headlining the remake of Tamil actor Ajith Kumar’s 2014 action film Veeram (Valour), reported the DNA newspaper.
The remake, which is tentatively titled Land of Lungi, will be bankrolled by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Farhad Samji of the Sajid-Farhad directing duo (Housefull 3, It’s Entertainment), according to the report. “Akshay is very comfortable with Farhad’s brand of humour,” said a source to the newspaper. “As for Akshay and Sajid, this will be their ninth film together. They make a great team and are good friends, too. The original film had done good business, and looking at the combination that has come together for the remake, this seems like a safe bet.”
Directed by Siva (Vivegam), Veeram narrates the story of a village hothead, who has to leave his ways of violence to win his lover’s heart. The film’s cast also included Tamannaah Bhatia and Vidharth.
