David Dhawan’s sequel to his 1997 comedy Judwaa stars his son Varun Dhawan as estranged twins Prem and Raja. The plot hasn’t changed much since the late 1990s movie, which was itself an unacknowledged copy of the Jackie Chan hit Twin Dragons. Prem and Raja are separated at birth but are linked by shared emotions, which means that when one gets a kick in the crotch, the other feels it too. Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu turn up to fulfill the glamour quotient and duck the Bechdel Test.
We are back in familiar David Dhawan territory: loud and risque humour, dim-witted and barely clad heroines and a chest-baring hero who cracks limbs and jokes. The movie will be released on September 29.
