Daniel Craig “has changed his mind and is set to sign up for his fifth Bond movie”, according to a report in the British tabloid Mirror. If the report is to be believed, the contenders for the highly lucrative and globally popular role of the British secret agent, including Tom Hardy, Aidan Turner and Tom Hiddleston, can forget playing 007 for now.

Craig had told Time Out London in 2015 that he wanted to stop playing the role. “I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists,” Craig said. “No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.” However, Craig seems to have been prevailed upon by longtime Bond producer Barbara Broccoli. Singer Adele will reportedly sing the theme song for the new entry, which is rumoured to start filming next year.

Craig has played Bond in four films: Casino Royale (2005), Quantum of Solace (2007), Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015). The 49-year old British actor will star in two films in 2017, Steven Soderbergh’s heist comedy Logan Lucky and Deniz Gamze Erguven’s Kings, a romance co-starring Halle Berry.
