It’s Ria’s big day. The journalist is going to interview the actress Sandy, who has a reputation for being frank and fearless. Unfortunately for both interviewer and subject, a lovemaking scene from Sandy’s upcoming film has found its way to the internet. (The event has shades of the real-life controversy that surrounded Radhika Apte after a scene from one of her short films was leaked onto the internet.)

Ria gets instructions from her female editor to “encash” the moment. She asks Sandy provocative questions in the hope of eliciting a headline, but the actress smoothly counters her volleys and provides lessons in crimes against women and the often abusive nature of internet culture. Directed by Rakesh Kumar and perfectly performed by Kalki Koechlin, as Sandy, and Ritabhari Chakraborty, as Ria, Naked takes a swipe at the shallowness of entertainment journalism while also landing a blow for a better understanding of the forms of violence against women. Look out for the rapid fire round towards the end.
