Popular and photogenic playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan has made cameo appearances in films and provided voice work for the animated productions Rio and Sons of Ram. Does a side career as a leading lady beckon? In the short film Playing Priya, directed by Arif Ali for the Humaramovie YouTube channel, Chauhan portrays a housewife who is most happy prancing around her plush home after her husband (Mukul Chadda) leaves. She refuses to answer a phone call, raids the fridge, and makes faces in front of the mirror – until her husband returns. The wispy story is an excuse to showcase Chauhan’s camera-friendliness. She barely says anything – although she does hum a bit in that lovely voice – and seems comfortable enough, but the story is too under-developed to warrant anything more than curiosity.
