News reports of the addition of model, actor and singer Staz Nair to the expanding Game of Thrones universe have been circulating for months. Viewers got a glimpse of Nair, who is half-Indian and half-Russian and was raised in the United Kingdom, in the first episode of the sixth season. His Qhono meets the widowed Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) in the Dothraki capital Vaes Dothrak. Sparks are expected to fly between the silver-haired one and the warrior with the perfectly sculpted (and hairless) chest in the third episode, titled Oathbreaker.

The other Indian-origin actor to feature on Games of Thrones is Indira Verma, playing Ellaria Sand.

Game of Thrones is streaming in India on the Hotstar app and showing on the Star World Premiere HD television channel at 10pm on Tuesdays.

The Instagram-friendly Nair was a member of the boy band Times Red in the 2012 edition of the British talent hunt show The X Factor (they auditioned with a version of Amy Winehouse’s ‘Rehab’). 2016 is his year: he will feature in Bazoodee, a Caribbean production featuring Kabir Bedi and non-resident Indian actors, and the television film The Rocky Picture Horror Show Event.

Other recurring characters who will appear in Oathbreakers include Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), who is training hard, the dependable Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), and Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson). The action is expected to hot up at the ironically named Tower of Joy. And now that Jon Snow has returned, will his parentage be revealed – or will that be saved for another eagerly awaited episode?
